Nordic religion

Throughout Scandinavia -- Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden -- the religion is called Forn Si'r (which means the Ancient way or tradition), Forn sed (the Old custom), Nordisk sed (Nordic custom), or Hedensk sed (Pagan custom). Before the Norse (a.k.a. the Vikings) converted to Christianity during the Middle Ages, they had their own vibrant native pagan religion that was as harshly beautiful as the Nordic landscape to which it was intimately connected. The Nordic religion is believed to have flourished in the 9th and 10th centuries across much of northern Europe, specifically, Iceland and Greenland. But its origins lie further back in the Scandinavian Bronze age (c.1600-450 BCE). From the 3rd to the 6th centuries the god Odin, became the chief of the pantheon worshipped by the Vikings. Heathenry is a decentralized religion, meaning it has no “central” authority or core ideology behind it.
